Year of the Dragon w TheWorst and Tigers On Opium

The Golden Bull, 412 14th St., Oakland

YEAR OF THE DRAGON blends Metal, Funk, and Punk into molten rock that sets souls on fire and gets bodies moving! YOTD features the unique vocal delivery of DIRTY WALT and the spitfire roar of FLYIN’ JAY from legendary Alternative Ska/Funk/Punk band FISHBONE. This double trouble vocal powerhouse tag teams audiences with blows of lyrical devastation! The band features the chunk and shred of Marc Rey on guitar, the Bootsy-esque punk-thump of T-Bone on bass, and the greasy double-kick grooves of Kerim Imes on drums. When YEAR OF THE DRAGON takes flight, they incinerate the false, leaving clouds of smoke behind! Or, as DIRTY WALT would say, “We gonna burn your face off!”

THE WORST Hailed by Alternative Press as the "...glorious love child of Joan Jett & Kurt Cobain," theWorst has been on a meteoric rise since their inception. Led by bandleader and true survivor, Brooke Binion, the band has gained a reputation as a one-of-a-kind raucous live act, fueled by an aggressive raw sound, anthemic songs and a brutally honest lyricism that is rare in today's highly commercial and often fabricated mainstream music scene. Having toured nationwide and coast to coast since 2016, theWorst is comprised of Binion on lead vocals and guitar, Will Bradford (SeepeopleS) on bass and Craig Sala (Paranoid Social Club, Kurt Baker, Planeside) on drums. The band earned wide critical acclaim with the release of their debut album Jane Doe Embryo (RascalZRecordZ 2017). In April of 2022, theWorst released their sophomore album Yes Regrets. The album was produced by Will Holland (Pixies, Fall Out Boy) and recorded at the legendary Chillhouse Studios in Boston, MA, and features musical contributions from the likes of Colley, Tony Bevilacqua (The Distillers), Nikki Glaspie (Beyoncé, Nth Power, Maceo Parker, Griz), and Nate Edgar (Nth Power, John Brown’s Body). The album has been featured in Alt-Press, Revolver, Under The Radar, Brooklyn Vegan and Glide Magazine to name a few. Currently the band is gearing up for let 2 (west coast) of the album release tour which starts in September, 2022.

TIGERS ON OPIUM is an American Rock band originating from Portland, OR. Thegroup was founded by producer/vocalist/guitarist Juan Carlos Caceres and drummer/multi-instrumentalist Nate Wright. The quartet is characterized by their electric live performances, uniquely harmonized vocals, and their ability to seamlessly blend elements of stoner, garage, sludge, and punk into energy driven songs with pop sensibility.Sometimes compared with artists like Queens of the Stone Age or Torche, the band lays down grooves heavy enough to bang your head too, but also infectious enough to shake what yo mama gave ya!Formed as a duet in the fall of 2015, Juan and Nate began to explore the diverse, edgy, and off-kilter sound that would quickly evolve to become their explosive2016 debut EP, There’s a Kink for That. Following the success of the release, the duet spent 2017 recruiting a line up and crafting a live show. Rounding out the band with producer/guitarist Jeanot-Lewis Rolland and bassist Charles Hodge, they rolled into 2018 with a west coast spring tour, a series of select summer shows, and entered the studio that fall to record the follow up to TAKFT.Now in 2019, with a vision firmly rooted in DIY aesthetics, the group is preparing to release a series of digital material.
